New Producer placement
GSFF is offering an exciting training opportunity to develop skills producing film events for audiences in Scotland.
The Film Hub Scotland New Producers scheme aims to increase the number of marginalised people working for cinemas and festivals within Scotland. This includes those marginalised due to race, gender, sexuality, age, class, and disability. This comes from a recognition that these identities are not adequately represented within the Scottish screen industry.
This position is offered part-time for four months at the living wage of £10.90ph. The placement will begin in the first week of December 2023, and will last for four months, three days per week.
GSFF is a small and robust organisation, and a short term contract with us is invariably a very hands-on experience of all aspects of festival production, from programming and scheduling to marketing and event delivery. Short term contract staff frequently come back to more substantial roles in subsequent years, and/or take on roles at other festivals, both in Scotland and internationally.
The New Producer will work closely with the Festival Coordinator and Marketing Manager, gaining an understanding of the database and systems that drive delivery of the festival, and the comms channels that promote it. They will also have the opportunity to participate in competition selection meetings and the programming of regular strands (comedy, horror, family animation).
The Festival Director and Programme Director will work with the New Producer to identify three screenings or events (possibly comprising a strand of the programme) to focus on. The New Producer will be supported through event production and audience development/outreach.
You don’t need any previous film experience, just a passion for cinema and an interest in working in Film Festivals and Cinemas.
Placements are also offered at Alchemy Film & Moving Image Festival (Hawick in Scottish Borders), Glasgow Film Festival and The Pyramid at Anderston.
