Submissions

The 18th edition of Glasgow Short Film Festival will take place 19-23 March 2025. GSFF competitions are comprised of submitted films, and other elements of the festival programme also draw from submissions. More information on our competitions, and the films screened in 2024, can be found on the Programme page. Our programming team eagerly trawls through thousands of submissions each year to showcase the most exciting work from around the world.

The 2025 call for entries is now open until 29 October 2024.

We are currently inviting submissions to two categories:

Scottish Short Film Award
Films are considered eligible for the Scottish competition if at least two of the following key positions – director, writer, producer – are filled by one or more people resident in Scotland.

Bill Douglas Award for International Short Film Award
Any film not eligible for the Scottish competition is eligible for the international competition.

Submissions to the Young Scottish Filmmaker Prize will open later in the year.

Eligibility for either category
All films must have been completed after 30 September 2023, with a maximum duration of 40 minutes. They may not have been previously submitted to GSFF. Works-in-progress are welcome.

Films may be submitted directly to GSFF or via Filmfreeway, at the links below. Please read the Rules and Regulations, and Submissions FAQs before submitting.

Regular Deadline: Tuesday 24 September (€14/$15)
Late Deadline: Tuesday 29 October (€19.50/$21)
