Submissions

The 17th edition of Glasgow Short Film Festival will take place 20-24 March 2024. GSFF competitions are comprised of submitted films, and other elements of the festival programme also draw from submissions. Our programming team eagerly trawls through thousands of submissions each year to showcase the most exciting work from around the world.

Glasgow Short Film Festival is a BAFTA-qualifying event. All British films screened at GSFF automatically become eligible for BAFTA Short Film or Short Animation Award consideration, as long as they meet other eligibility criteria.

Eligibility

GSFF welcomes all forms and genres - our competition programmes combine fiction, documentary, animation and experimental/artists’ moving image.

GSFF accepts works up to 40 minutes in length.

GSFF accepts works completed up to eighteen months before the festival. That means we will accept works completed after 30 September 2022.

GSFF has no premiere status rule, and accepts works that are available online.

A film is considered eligible for the Scottish competition if at least two of the following key positions - director, writer, producer - are filled by people resident in Scotland.

Non-English language films must be subtitled in English.

We accept submissions of works in progress - check the FAQs.

We do not consider films that have been previously submitted to GSFF and declined. Please check your records before submitting, as we will not refund the submission fee of a film that has previously been submitted.
