Glasgow Short Film Festival is looking for short film submission viewers to be part of our GSFF26 pre-selection team.
GSFF accepts all genres and styles, so viewers will watch a mix of fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental work submitted to us from across the world, and selected films will be programmed in our Bill Douglas Award international competition. Named in honour of Scotland’s greatest filmmaker, this selection is guided to best reflect the qualities found in the work of Bill Douglas: honesty, formal innovation and cinematic storytelling that places sound and image centre stage.
Viewers will be asked to commit to a minimum of 300 short films between July and November 2025. Films submitted to us are on average 15 minutes in duration, and viewers will be paid £3.30 per film.
Viewers will be expected to critically engage with and evaluate films by submitting a rating and concise comments, and where possible to attend monthly online meetings.
This role is intended for those with ambitions in film programming and a particular interest in short film. GSFF is committed to improving accessibility and equal opportunities in our industries. Therefore we particularly encourage applications from candidates from communities and identities currently underrepresented in film programming.
We will organise an introductory Zoom meeting for successful candidates, and provide access to previously screened works to allow familiarisation with the festival’s programming sensibilities.
To apply, please send your CV to vacancies@glasgowshort.org, and fill in this short application form where you will be asked to provide a short piece of critical writing (150-200 words).
The deadline for applications is 9 June 2025 at 17.00, with interviews arranged for the week beginning 23 June 2025.
The 19th edition of Glasgow Short Film Festival will take place from 18 – 22 March 2026.
Glasgow Short Film Festival, the leading short film event in Scotland, hosts an inclusive community of filmmakers and film lovers, showcasing ground-breaking works of visual storytelling. We nurture and promote diverse forms of cinematic expression, in Scotland and around the world. Everything we do is intended to reflect our values of collaboration, enquiry, inclusion and solidarity.
