GSFF is thrilled to be partnering with London-based post-production house The Ark on our 2025 call for entries. Anyone who submits their short to GSFF is entitled to claim a 20% discount on DCP creation for their film at The Ark’s facilities. DCP is the industry standard digital exhibition format, ensuring your film will screen to the same high standard at any professional cinema in the world. Here’s The Ark’s team to tell us a bit more about their history and what they offer.
The Ark is a long established independent post production house operating out of two central locations in London. As well as traditional post production services such as offline edits, grading and sound mix, we also support our clients with a long list of media services. We won’t bore you with the details, but this ranges from Quality Checks to DCPs and everything in-between.
At The Ark, we’re excited to be celebrating our 25th birthday in 2025. In a sector that is currently facing one of the worst crises it has ever seen with many outfits struggling or going into liquidation, The Ark is proud to report growth despite this trying stage. We are thrilled to celebrate a quarter of a century next year and more excited than ever to see what comes next.
What do we attribute this growth to? Two things. Firstly, The Ark’s unflinching commitment to its existing client relationships, some of which span decades. Our resolve to providing exceptional service, crystal clear communication (you can actually call us, on a telephone!!) and speedy turnarounds is what keeps our lights on and our graders grading.
Secondly, The Ark’s relentless investment into the future of our industry. Not technology, not AI, but the people. In an ever-changing industry it’s vital to operate at the coalface and we believe supporting emerging filmmakers is doing just that. That’s why we have partnered with Glasgow Short Film Festival in 2025.
In 2025, The Ark has committed to providing a discounted Digital Cinema Package (DCP) to any filmmaker who submits their film to Glasgow Short Film Festival. A DCP is an essential, often costly, part of the festival circuit. Most film festivals require a DCP to screen your film, so unfortunately there’s no getting around it! We know how expensive the festival circuit is, especially for emerging filmmakers working to limited budgets. That’s why The Ark has committed to supporting young filmmakers via affordable DCP delivery.
But this is just one of the many investments The Ark makes into the BAFTA winners of tomorrow. As well as providing discounted deliverables, we also invest into artists and projects that we believe will ultimately pay dividends. If we see potential in you or your project, we’ll take a punt. If you think you or someone you know fits the bill, don’t hesitate to reach out!
So… 25 years strong as an independent post production house, how have we done it? Luckily, it’s not rocket science. Taking real care of our existing client base whilst keeping an eye on the future of the industry and investing in the most important part of tomorrow, the people.
