business as usual: hostile environment

Description

With the horrors of Covid-19 still overshadowing the everyday, business as usual - hostile environment is an offering and a gesture towards remaining soft. Anchored within rage and a determined self-compassion, this new film work considers how racialised precarity and exploitation are embedded within the white supremacist ideals of the hostile environment.

With migrant healthcare workers at the frontline, still dying at disproportionate rates and the threat of detention and deportation destroying BPoC communities, this film questions how the pandemic performs sleight of hand over the value and disposable treatment of BPoC frontline workers.
