Submission Guidelines

Blueprint invites films of any genre from any Head of Department (submitted films will be assessed according to the relevant department).

In line with GSFF policy Blueprint accepts films of up to 50 minutes in duration.

Films produced as part of a Further Education course are eligible. Films produced as part of Higher Education course are not eligible. Films that are made with public or commercial support are not eligible.

Blueprint wants to keep submissions as simple as possible:

1. Upload your film to an online video platform such as Vimeo or YouTube. You can choose whether to make your film publicly visible or private and password-protected.

2. Email the URL link (and password if required) to

3. Include a description of the film – its duration, production history, an explanation of your role, confirmation that it meets Blueprint's submissions policy and at least one high quality (300 dpi) still image from the film.

4. If your film is selected for a Blueprint programme you will be asked to supply a digital copy at a later date.

5. Be sure to include your name and contact email address.

6. Submissions to Blueprint are on a rolling basis. It is not a film festival and submissions never close. Films submitted to Blueprint will be considered for any future Blueprint programme.

Selected filmmakers are entitled to one free ticket to their screening.

Films submitted to Blueprint will not automatically be considered for the next edition of Glasgow Short Film Festival. Hans Lucas is not a programmer for GSFF; the submission process for GSFF is entirely separate from that of Blueprint. Films exhibited at Blueprint remain eligible for GSFF, however you are advised not to submit a new film to Blueprint if you are considering submitting it to other festivals as participation may jeopardise your chances of selection elsewhere.

Blueprint respects your privacy and will not under any circumstances share your information with third parties. Blueprint recognises that the rights of exhibited films remain with the filmmakers. Filmmakers grant Blueprint permission to exhibit their work in designated programmes and to be used in part or whole for the promotion of such designated programmes. Blueprint claims no perpetuity or rights to repeated exhibition.
