Glasgow Short Film Festival returns to the big screen for the first time in three years with a unique opening event, the UK premiere of a collage remix of a forgotten Stephen King mini-series.

Mr. Toomey has an important business meeting in Boston, but he dreads the thought of arriving. The only relief from his traumatic dreams of childhood is obsessively tearing paper - ripping it into strips. When he wakes on his flight, there seems to have been a tear in reality as most of the other passengers have vanished. When the survivors land, the airport is eerily empty of life, like a blank page. Something is coming to rip this weird paper purgatory of the mind apart - monsters only Mr. Toomey can confront.

Footage from the 3-hour 1995 TV adaptation of Stephen King's The Langoliers is edited, printed and animated into a hypnotic black and white paper nightmare.

With this delightful instant-cult gem, we follow in the footsteps of our last in-person opening event, Soda Jerk’s disruptive masterpiece Terror Nullius. The Timekeepers of Eternity is another stand-out piece of pop culture remixing, made with love and nostalgia, and an absurd amount of patience and craft. One for animation lovers, Stephen King nuts, maybe even the Don Hertzfeldt fans amongst us, but mostly for anyone who craves cinema that is unlike anything they’ve seen before.

Director Aristotelis Maragkos will be in attendance to participate in a post-screening conversation.

The film will be captioned for d/Deaf viewers. Ticket holders will get a complimentary drink courtesy of our sponsors Glasgow Beer Works and Illicit Spirits.
